When it comes to parks, Brisbane dogs are SPOILT for choice. With at least one off leash park in every suburb, you’re bound to find something to suit any size dog within walking distance. However, at Chewy Chews we don’t do things by halves, so we set out to uncover the not-so-obvious dog parks and give praise to the hidden gems for those who yearn for something a little different than the local.
So without further ado, we’ve rounded up 8 of our fav off-leash parks in and around Brisbane that’ll get tails wagging.
-
Victoria Park Off-Leash Dog Park
Beginning with an obvious and central choice, Victoria Park off-leash dog park is a natural hit. Recently converted from golf-course to public parkland, your dog will love this gorgeous shade-speckled expanse.
-
Elanora Park
This has got to be the biggest off-leash park on our list by FAR. Located next to a mangrove boardwalk, Elanora Park boasts a massive 20 thousand square metres of roaming space. If that isn’t enough there’s many gorgeous walks along the bayline to choose from - just remember to bring lots of mozzie spray!
-
Powerhouse Park Off-Leash Park
Just when you thought Powerhouse couldn’t get any better, their sprawling dog park is a sight for sore paws. Fit for the urban dog, this park has plenty of shade and gorgeous views - particularly in October through to November when the jacarandas are in full bloom!
-
Anzac Park Dog Park
Your pooch will be spoiled for choice when visiting the Anzac Park Dog Park, nestled in the heart of Toowong. Its greatest asset is the dual park space, one being for small dogs and the other for their larger counterparts. Equipped with the ability to facilitate play both in the afternoon sun, and well into the night thanks to their excellent night lighting, your dog will have a ball in the wide-open spaces on the west side!
-
Bulimba Riverside Dog Park
Coined as a cosy corner tucked in the suburbs of Bulimba, the Riverside Dog Park may be on the smaller side, yet still manages to pack a punch when visiting! Its space is perfect for the smaller apartment dogs which are common for this area. An afternoon is well spent here, seeking shelter under the nostalgic shade sails, enjoying riverviews, whilst your pup can roam safely in the fenced off dog area. Best yet, a short stroll to the neighbouring Brumby’s is home to one of our very own Chewy Chews vending machines! Pack a picnic and your pooch and enjoy some R&R away from the normal hustle and bustle of Bulimba.
-
Shaftesbury Street Big Dog Park
The Shaftesbury Street Big Dog Park is the perfect place to kick off a pupper pamper day. Situated next to Baracca BNE cafe and neighbouring dog wash, spoil your furry friend with a run in the expansive parklands, followed by some TLC at the dog wash. End the day with a puppa-chino at Baracca BNE (or a snack from our Chewy Chews Vending Machine), and soak up the home comforts of their Queenslander-style cafe and pet friendly atmosphere.
-
West End Markets
Every Saturday, rain, hail or shine, West End’s Davies Park gets transformed into a market, and is a must go for you and your pupp. Welcoming dogs of all sizes, and even cats and pigs (on a leash) - all are given access to vibrant and communal weekend markets, free of charge. With water bowls situated at various points along the market, kick off the weekend in West End, by exploring what the markets have to offer, or seeking refuge under the infamous fig trees which shelter the park area. A perfect day out for you and your furry companion.
-
Boundary Road Dog Park
Rounding out our top 8 dog parks is The Boundary Road Dog Park located in Camp Hill. Known as a socialising hub for pooches and humans alike, your dogs will feel right at home amongst the vast park land expanses, with separate areas for small and large dogs. The various obstacle courses have proven to be a hit amongst the larger dogs, and leaves them occupied for what feels like hours - what more could you want!
